Hello! My name is Patty Dwan. I am the Special Education teacher at List Elementary. My job is to help children in grades kindergarten through fourth with language arts and math. I work with the classroom teacher to help children reach their educational goals.

Reading to or with your child will greatly assist in helping reading skills grow.  Ten minutes every day of the week is more beneficial than a longer period of time once a week. 

Use a notebook to write notes to your child.  Have him/her write back.  Again, a daily note will encourage more growth than an occasional letter.

Make practicing spelling words fun!  Children can write them in the air, on your back, in a sand tray or outside with sidewalk chalk.
